Land Use & Zoning

The Planning Department is also responsible for the regulation of land use and zoning issues. Responsibilities include ensuring that proposed land uses match the zoning district, processing change of land use requests, and preparing agenda items for the Planning Commission for land use public hearings and recommendations. A pre-application meeting is required with Planning Staff for rezoning, conditional use permits, special use permits, and land use variances. To schedule, contact the office at 706-865-6768. Please bring a copy of the recorded plat of the property, obtained from the Clerk of Court, to the meeting.

Short Term Rentals

For questions regarding grandfather status for short term rentals, host license, business license, or hotel/motel tax, contact the Business Tax office at 706-865-2235.

Effective January 31, 2024, as part of the host license application process, a short-term rental verification will need to be obtained from the Planning Department. Please contact the office at 706-865-6768 to discuss the verification process.
