Code Enforcement

The White County Code Enforcement Division is a division within the White County Community and Economic Development Division. Code Enforcement is responsible for enforcing White County’s ordinances and codes. Our approach is simple, we engage with our citizens and provide education on how to gain compliance when a violation of code is identified. If a violator fails to correct the violation within a reasonable amount of time, then a summons maybe issued and the matter will be turned over to the courts for judicial compliance.  Our goal is to make White County a safe and healthy place to live, work and play.

Mission Statement:

Code Violations:

• Outside storage of household garbage/rubbish
• Illegal Dumping
• Hazardous Waste spills
• Building without permits
• Business Occupation Tax
• Permanent or part time living in illegal structures

Issues of a criminal nature i.e. speeding, criminal trespass, sale of and/or use of drugs and so on should be reported to the White County Sheriff’s Office.

Complaints concerning animals such as aggressive dogs, animals running at large, animal neglect or abuse, or illegal breeding operations should be reported to White County Animal Control Services.

We do not perform home interior inspections including those related to mold, rodents, and insect infestations, nor mediate issues between Landlords and Tenants.  For Landlord/Tenant issues please refer to this website: https://www.dca.ga.gov and click on Landlord/Tenant issues in the dropdown box.

Additionally, the White County Code Enforcement Division does not handle issues related to homeowner's association (HOA) or (POA) rules and by-laws, or mediate civil disputes such as property line disputes, and storm water issues between neighbors.

All complaints must be filled out on the "Complaint Investigation Form" at the bottom of this page, and then they may be submitted in person at the office, mailed to the above address, or emailed to kpalmer@whitecounty.net. Complaints will be investigated within 48 hours of receipt, with the exception of weekends and holidays. Warning: Filing a false or fictitious report/complaint is a crime and subject to prosecution under Section 16-10-20 of the Official Code of Georgia (O.C.G.A.).

Please be advised we do not respond to any anonymous complaints. If you choose not to leave any contact information, please understand we will have no way of contacting you and will not respond to your complaint. Also, please be advised that while White County personnel will not give complainant information to persons requesting such information; however, that information, minus legally redacted portions, may be attained through an open records request initiated by any party.
