The Economic Development Department is working to develop and apply new ideas, techniques, and technologies to generate and improve productivity levels, fiscal sustainability, business development, job growth, and quality of life within White County.

 

Geography in White County

Nestled in Northeast Georgia, White County showcases the beauty of the surrounding Appalachian Mountains. Beneath the Blue Ridge Mountains and between the Chattahooche River, White County boasts breathtaking views, diverse greenery, and plentiful wildlife. To support such a location, White County features a moderate climate with little to no snowfall and a cool average temperature of 56.3 degrees Fahrenheit.

 

Business in White County

White County is a prosperous and hearty community capable of supporting large business as well as providing opportunity to smaller startups and entrepreneurs. New business will find an able bodied work force within the county and a diverse selection of industries ranging from industrial manufacturing to tourism. White County also features two municipalities with a plethora of commercial properties and lots to fit and individual's needs.

 

Broadband Ready Community

On Sept. 15, 2021, White County was designated a Broadband Ready Community by the Georgia Department of Community Affairs.

To earn the designation, White County included Broadband elements in its most recent revision of its comprehensive plan, passed a model ordinance for Broadband, and designated the Director of Community and Economic Development as the single point of contact for Broadband projects in White County.
